Limb Power was launched in November 2009 to engage amputees and individuals with limb impairments in physical activity, sport and the arts to improve quality of life and to aid lifelong rehabilitation.
As a foundation, we reached out to limb power to discuss how we as a foundation can help people who have suffered an amputation access sport within Birmingham. This lead to a meeting with the Physio team from the Birmingham NHS rehabilitation centre. The outcome of this meeting was highly positive with the physio team saying they come across patients who played golf pre amputation who know feel unable to return to the game for numbers reason both physical and phycological. Having a club and teaching team willing to work with patients to get them back into golf will be extremely positive to there lives.
Since this meeting, we have helped 3 gentlemen refind their passion for golf who though they may never play again. Due to this success, we are in talks with the physio team to introduce golf to children who are born with a limb disability and show them they can still benefit from golf!
